REMINDER! Register your teaching license by December 31, 2013
The holiday season is in full swing, and the end of the year is approaching fast. To avoid costly penalties, it is critical that you take a moment during this busy time to ensure that your educator license is registered!
If your Professional Educator License (PEL) renewed on July 1, 2013 and you have not yet paid the registration fees, you MUST do so before December 31, 2013 or your license will lapse.
A lapsed license is one that has not been registered or renewed for six months or more since its last registration. Once lapsed, your license is not valid for teaching in an Illinois public or charter school or a cooperative. To reinstate it, you must pay a $500 penalty fee or complete nine (9) semester hours of advanced coursework.
Avoid the penalty! If you have not already done so, visit the ISBE website to log in to your ELIS account before December 31. You can conveniently pay the required registration fees with a debit or credit card.
